Our ladies got stuck into their triples championship last week: V. Collins, J. Tarbert and L. Mair beat M. Partridge, M. Dobe and A. Evans 22-11. R. Jones, L. Martin and B. Campbell beat K. Rymer, E. Parkin and J. Hair 17-10; and S. Brown, M. Minet and J. Brownlie beat E. Egan, N. Brown and B. Roser by 31-9. The team of S. Brown, M. Minet and J. Brownlie backed up on Thursday with a win over S. Read, G. O'Donnell and G. Hodgson 17-11.
The ladies also managed to squeeze in social triples on Tuesday with M. Sultana, A. Cooper and G. O'Donnell running out winners.
On Thursday there was still space for singles play, M. Sultana again featuring as a winner.
The men played Wednesday triples with J. Fox, J. Tomlinson and K. Bratby declared winners. M. Kunzler, J. Mears and W. Partridge were runners-up.
On Thursday the pairs took to the greens in perfect late autumn weather and winners on the day were C. Baker and G. Clough. Runners-up on this occasion were B. Gibson and A. Rodgers.
Despite threatening skies the annual Triples Challenge got under way last week, with 26 teams from throughout the district vying for the prize money on offer over the weekend.
