The couple, who have lived in Kiama since 2001, admit  they will be on the edge of their seats when the game starts.

They plan to watch the game with friends at the friend's Gerroa home, but believe all the injuries and heartbreak their grandson has gone through to reach this – league’s biggest stage – will hold him in good stead.

“We are absolutely ecstatic – in fact we are just over the moon,” grandfather Rod said.

“He has suffered so many injury setbacks, including two shoulder injuries and then a knee injury that left him in a terrible state of depression and wondering if he would ever play again,” Eileen said.

“And now to see him in the NSW team for an Origin game is just such a thrill.”

Rod admits that he was a bit shocked when his young grandson decided to play rugby league.

“Being English and following soccer all my life, I was sure he would play soccer when he was eight, ” the Manchester City ‘tragic’ said.

"In fact I was devastated when he decided to play league with his mates, but  it has turned out alright.

“At least he is wearing the sky blue of NSW now, just like my Manchester City team - that’s something I suppose,” he smiled.

The couple are rightly proud of their grandson.

“He has always been a very sensible boy and we just couldn’t be prouder.” Eileen said.

Josh and Brett Morris' mum Karen Chatfield will travel to Brisbane today to watch the clash live.
