After a record-breaking year in 2013, the Kiama Relay for Life is back.
The 2014 relay will be launched this Saturday.
This year's event will take place on May 3-4.
Last year's relay raised a record $136,000, with Team Roberts raising $15,201 - the most of any team in the Kiama relay's four-year history.
Cancer Council research and support programs received the proceeds.
The launch will feature a street stall at the corner of Shoalhaven and Terralong streets from 10am-2pm.
Committee members will be under their marquee, decked out in their yellow and purple shirts.
A decorated truck with loudspeakers will be doing laps, while a few committee members are planning a "Relay run/walk" up to Kiama Village, complete with Olympic-style relay torches.
Raffle tickets will be available for sale, and flyers and display brochures will be handed out.
The themes of this year's event are celebrate, remember, and fight back.
The 2014 Kiama Relay for Life committee has undergone a transformation, with Michael Innes taking the reins to give former chairman Steve Dalton a well-earned break.
He was drawn to the cause after losing his partner, Debbie, to a brain tumour at just 21.
"We want to make some noise and make people aware that Relay is on," he said of the launch.
"It's specifically to make the town aware that Relay is coming up, so people should get in early and register their teams now."
Fellow committee member Marie Dalton said the event had a great sense of community.
"It's the biggest event of its kind that Kiama has," she said. "I can't think of another fundraiser that comes close."
Committee member Hannah Hutchison participated in the relay for the first time last year.
"It was so amazing to see so many faces you knew," she said.
"So many people in the community have been touched by cancer, and people unite for that cause."
The Kiama Relay for Life is a 24-hour event held at the Kiama Quarry Sports Complex. Teams walk the track to raise funds, with festival-type entertainment provided.
