Since it first took place, the event has raised in excess of $100,000 for numerous charities.
This year, the beneficiaries will be the area's surf clubs and the Kiama Lions Cancer Fund.
Kiama Lion Jerry Granger-Holcombe said both causes were very worthy recipients.
"The surf clubs do a wonderful job teaching kids about safety, water and first aid and that is so important," he said.
"Last year we gave $13,000 away in the cancer fund and we need to top that up. It is a terrible disease."
Mr Granger-Holcombe said the day was more than just a fund-raiser.
"It is the social event on the calendar," he said.
"It is a very social occasion and the opportunity to enjoy the races in a relaxed environment and enjoy the proximity to the horses.
"It's a great way to have a drink and celebrate or commiserate [your fortunes] as the case may be."
Supported by the Illawarra Turf Club, there will be a full program of top class racing.
The first 500 Kiama residents able to supply proof of their residency will receive free entry, while corporate seats in the Bert Lillye Lounge, which includes meals and drinks, are just $85.
The Kiama Independent is a proud supporter of the Community Race Day.
