During the semis on Saturday John Bodey, Bob Wilson, Darren Smithard and Martin Wilson defeated Cameron Baker, Rob White, Danny Keenan and Kevin Pepper 20-16. In the other match Craig Coleman, Tom Hodgson, Barry Archer and Mick Ganderton defeated Ted McGuiness, Ray Walker, Chris Twigg and Andrew Anstey 19-16.
The final was played in good conditions on Sunday afternoon. Martin Wilson's team proved too strong on the day for Mick Ganderton's team, Wilson's team taking the match 25-8.
The men's minor singles has started. In the only match played to date B. Gibson downed J. Tomlinson 31-16.
Tuesday was ladies' day.
Played in fine conditions, the winners were V. Blakey, V. Collins, M. Dobe and A. Cooper, with E. Parkin, G. O'Donnell and A. Evans runners-up.
In the Thursday ladies social bowls the winners were M. Minet and M. Walker. The first-round matches of the ladies major singles start this week.
Wednesday's men had near-perfect conditions with 34 bowlers. The winners were M. Lomas, R. Blakey and R. Parkinson, with G. Bartrim and A. Anstey the runners-up.
The Thursday men used all available rink space and the winners were D. Keenan and N. Tylee. B. Hudson and G. Clough were runners-up.
Saturday men's socials were played in cooler conditions after the southerly change and M. Lomas, B. Harris and J. Moncrieff came in winners. R. Rose, D. Downton and M. Miller were runners-up.
This Saturday is Australia Day and a special afternoon has been arranged, starting at 4pm, with barefoot social bowls, music, food and a raffle.
This will be a fun afternoon and evening, so get your names on the board now.
Due to this Australia Day event, the men's social bowls this Saturday will start half an hour earlier at 12.30pm.
