Since starting Mr Perfect as Mental Health's Mate in 2016 founder Terry Cornick said regular meet-ups were now being held in 30 communities around Australia.
"We are seeing huge demand in Cronulla and would love to get one going in the Wollongong area. We have grown in four years with little resources to an impactful charity that recently was awarded the AMHF Men's Health Award."
Mr Cornick said it started with him realising he was not Mr Perfect and that something was missing in his own struggle with mental health. He said the BBQ meet ups help create community and connection by bringing men together in local parks to reduce isolation and encourage better mental health.
He said starting a monthly mental health meet-ups in the Illawarra would involve the recruitment of a regional BBQ host.
