Sarah D'Arcy and Jordan Membrey starred in attack for the Magpies as they extended their best start to a season on Sunday with a 6.3 (39) to 3.6 (24) victory.

Collingwood boast a 2-0 record ahead of next week's meeting with Conference B ladder leaders Fremantle.

The Magpies, Dockers and Melbourne are all unbeaten, as are Brisbane on top of Conference A.

"We've still got a lot of areas that we need to continue to work on, but there's some really pleasing signs that we're heading in the right direction," first-year coach Steve Symonds said.

"The girls in particular have grown confidence in the brand that we're trying to play and they're getting confident in themselves and their teammates as they're going along."

The expansion sides are still finding life difficult.

Brisbane dominated the midfield battle and eventually ground down Geelong's resistance in a 6.3 (39) to 3.2 (20) win at GMHBA Stadium.

The Lions kicked five unanswered goals after halftime as Jesse Wardlaw (three goals) shone.

North Melbourne's accuracy was the difference as they claimed a 6.1 (37) to 2.7 (19) win over GWS in Launceston, with vice-captain Jasmine Garner outstanding.

Melbourne were left counting the cost of Friday night's win over the Western Bulldogs when scans confirmed Ainslie Kemp had ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in her 'good' left knee.

Kemp also damaged the medial ligament in an injury which occurred in the dying stages of the Demons' 4.8 (32) to 2.0 (12) victory.
