Macquarie Pass has been reopened to traffic ahead of the evening peak period.

The pass, which had been closed due to a landslip during the weekend's heavy rains, was re-opened at 3.30pm on Thursday.

Road crews have spent the last four days and nights removing rocks, soil and fallen trees from the road, resurfacing it and clearing out blocked drains.

Work to carry out drainage repairs on the Illawarra Highway near Tourist Road, Robertson is also expected to be completed by 5pm Thursday.

Until work is completed one lane will remain closed and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place.
