There is a lot of spoil and rocks on the road requiring on-going clean-up using excavators, skid-steers and trucks.
Crews continue to work around the clock on to clear debris and dangerous trees, contain embankments, and complete road surface repairs.
Work is expected to be completed in the next few days, with weather permitting.
The highway is closed in both directions, and motorists are advised to use Picton Road and the Princes Motorway as an alternative route.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use an alternative route.
Residents only may be permitted past closure points, at the discretion of emergency services.
