About 60 residents, members and their partners and families were at a thank you morning tea for the Foxground RFS at its station on Sunday, January 28.

Foxground Rural Fire Service members say they appreciate the gratitude of the community and their recognition of the time and effort they have put in over this Black Summer.

Since October, Foxground RFS members have volunteered over 1,100 hours as part of the many strike teams that were sent to all the nearby fires: the Currowan, Green Wattle Creek, and the Moreton fires.

Former Foxground RFS member and community liaison person Alison Windsor thanked the members for their dedication and commitment and for "putting your lives on hold and risking your lives for our community".

"It is fantastic to see the community come together in this time of need," she said.

She especially thanked Captain Con Goik for his informative emails, which have kept the community up to date with the fire situation and the background to back-burning, hazard reduction control and other issues.

"It was heartening to see the warmth, and the support and the bonding in the community as a result of this very difficult fire season," Captain Goik says.
