On Saturday, December 7, the Shoalhaven Lydian Singers will present J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio at 2:30pm in St Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiama.
On Sunday, December 8 at 2:30pm they will perform at the Nowra School of Arts.
The concert is described as the Oratorio of Christ's birth, led by narration with beautiful orchestral accompaniment and some carols - a Christmas feast.
The Lydian Singers' Musical Director, Katharina Raffelsberger, has adapted the Oratorio Parts 1 to 3 for the choir's performance - the two most famous Chorales "Jauchzet, frohlocket" and "Herrscher des Himmels".
Many others will be interspersed with sensitive narration written and performed by Peter Barley, with arias sung by some of the Lydians' best soloists, and accompaniment by a small orchestra comprising well-known local players on strings, winds and brass.
Together the Oratorio will be a beautiful, memorable performance.
The choir will also provide some favourite and some different carols for audience participation and joy. It's set to be a wonderful afternoon and will include the the famous Lydians' afternoon teas.
