Kiama Rotary Club's three major fund-raising events are coming up soon. Our Annual Festival of Choirs is on Sunday, October 27, with a 1pm start. Admission is $30 per adult (18+), Concession pricing is available, with tickets available at the door. It's a spring musical celebration with well-known choirs from the local area entertaining you with their choral skills at the Pavilion, Kiama Showground.
Next on the calendar is the Kiama Auto Expo, run jointly by both Gerringong and Kiama Rotary Clubs, on Sunday, November 24, at Kiama Showground. It's wall-to-wall classic, veteran and vintage cars with the odd hot-rod thrown in. Gates for the public will open at 9am and admission will be via a $5 donation (major beneficiary Parkinson's and other Rotary projects) for a person over the age of twelve.
In conjunction with the Auto Expo, and subject to all the raffle tickets being sold, we will draw our major raffle. First prize is an MG ZS 1.5L automatic SUV ($26,500 value), second prize a week's accommodation in Coffs Harbour and third prize a $500 petrol card. Purchase tickets by phoning Bob on 0432 370 969 or at the showground on the day.
The final dates for your diary are January 18-19, 2020 for our Kiama Antiques and Retro Fair held at the Kiama Leisure Centre; watch our facebook page for more information.
KIAMA LIONS CLUB
Well, we survived the busiest September we have ever had with 4 BBQs, a car boot sale and Driver Reviver. Thankfully the build-up to Christmas will be a lot more sedate. Our sincere thanks to all our readers who came and patronised our stalls during the past month. Remember, all the money raised will go back to the Community in one way or another. Last month we shared our market BBQ with the Red Cross. On the 20th of this month it will be the turn of the Kiama Public School P & C.
Our first dinner meeting this month will on the 10th and it will feature a wine tasting which is going to be great fun. Our Driver Reviver teams are up and running again especially for the long weekend, we hope to be very busy and a number of local folk have volunteered to help man the van which is really nice. Our participation in the Second Hand Saturday at Black Beach was a resounding success, there were 116 vehicles that came to sell and there were many bargains made and traded. Thankfully the weather was kind.
KIAMA CWA DAY BRANCH
Our next meeting is on October 15 at the CWA hall, 70 Shoalhaven St., Kiama. As it is our AGM, our regular business meeting will be at 11am at the CWA hall, followed by a BYO lunch and the AGM at 1.30pm. A reminder that members must pay their yearly dues prior to the AGM if they wish to vote. New members and visitors are most welcome to all our activities. The CWA hall is available for hire.
