The old Lecture Hall, part of the Uniting Church property in Manning Street, is the oldest building in Kiama, built in 1851.
The church is the first Wesleyan Chapel in the whole of Illawarra and the first permanent chapel of any denomination in the Southern Illawarra.
A fundraising appeal to help restore the building was launched in October 2018, after it was discovered that a NSW Government grant would not be sufficient to cover the project, due to heavy salt impregnation of the 168-year-old bricks.
The church committee will be celebrating its reopening on Sunday, July 28.
A service will be held at 9.30am, followed by morning tea at 10.30am, and the official opening at 11am.
Local MP, Gareth Ward, will be attending. The event is open to all.
Following the morning activities, the Wollongong Gospel Choir will lead hymns from 2pm. Following the singing, afternoon tea will be served.
