Fresh-faced Fern Street gallery nominated for state award

Nine-month-old Fern Street Gallery has been announced as a finalist in the NSW Regional Tourism Awards, in the new business section.

A fine art gallery run by professional artists, Fern Street Gallery breaks down the barriers between artists and collectors and offers a fine art experience with a personal touch.

Co- founders - Gerringong's Gitte Backhausen and Mount Kembla's Kerry Bruce - are both well established artists that met through a shared vision to promote local artists.

"Artists are some of the hardest working people," Ms Bruce said.

"It requires tremendous dedication, commitment and persistence to build a career in the arts."

Fern Street Gallery is open every day over the school holidays, from July 8-21, with the 'Winter Walk-Out' Exhibition: Monday to Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-4pm.

Resident artists; Stacy Burgess, Jennifer Luck-Ellem, Kelvin Taylor, Kristal del Villar, Jon Harris, Gitte Backhausen, Kerry Bruce and Vanessa Anderson will greet visitors.
