Police say that at about 6.15pm on Sunday, August 12, 2018 a man - armed with an axe - entered a supermarket on Johnson Street, Kiama Downs.
Police say the armed man threatened a 14-year-old female employee before stealing cash and fleeing the store in a stolen white van.
Local police attended and established a crime scene before the State Crime Command's Robbery and Serious Crime Squad took over the investigation under Strike Force Tudawalli.
The van was later found abandoned and was seized for forensic examination.
At about 10am on Sunday, June 16, 2019, a bag was located outside a hotel in Meroo Street, Bomaderry, before it was handed in to local police.
Police say a forensic examination of the bag linked it to the stolen vehicle used in the armed robbery.
As part of ongoing investigations, strike force investigators have released an image of the bag and are appealing for anyone who has information about it to come forward.
Detectives are particularly interested in speaking to the person who left the bag in Bomaderry.
Investigations are continuing.
