Take a walk down memory lane at Kiama Soccer Club book launch in August

If you have a love for local history - or for soccer - we have the event for you.

'40 Years of Football: A Kiama Junior Football Club History ~ 1976-2016' will be launched at the Kiama Golf Club on Saturday, August 10, from 2pm-4pm.

Author Chris Hudson said the book commemorates the community effort that goes into sustaining a sports club.

"The publication is also a commemorative celebration of 40 years of volunteer work," he said.

"It recognises the hard work by hundreds of volunteers, which has shaped the club into a modern day success story and one of the largest in the Illawarra, with over 500 registered players."

It contains a tribute to Joel Ritchie, former Kiama Independent sports editor and Illawarra Mercury sport reporter, who passed away at just 28.
