As well as the Surf Beach upgrade, the council will invest six million dollars to redesign Werri Beach Holiday Park due to start in 2020.
The Surf Beach upgrade will include:
- New entry forecourt with entry lay-by, visitor car parking and accessible car parking.
- Upgraded roads, electricity, water and sewerage.
- Renovations of existing cabins and 12 new cabins, including an accessible cabin.
- New resort-style pool and splash pad with ocean views.
- Expanded and renovated pool lounge.
- New larger short-term sites in the flatter centre of the park.
- Concrete slabs for all high-use short-term sites.
The new park design will provide modern, multipurpose facilities matched with new and renovated cabins and sites.
The pool lounge will be an indoor/outdoor area for fine and wet weather, and will cater for groups such as caravan clubs and sporting clubs, and family functions such as birthday parties.
The new cabins will include duplex and accessible configurations and allow access to one or all bedrooms.
The number of caravan sites will be reduced, to provide larger, flatter and more easily accessible areas.
The changes at Surf Beach Holiday Park, as with those planned at Werri Beach, will allow the parks to adjust to changes in the tourism market and ensure their long-term future.
The new design is intended to attract more grey nomads, handle the demand from an increased number of sporting and cultural events and the general growth of tourism in the region.
Surf Beach Holiday Park will be closed during the upgrades, with work expected to be completed in October 2019.
The provision of an accessible cabin was made possible with funding from the NSW government.
