An elderly man has been charged over historic child sexual assaults on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

The assaults allegedly occurred at a high school in Brookvale between 1969 and 1976, where the man worked as a teacher.
Police allege the man assaulted a male student at the school, when the boy was aged between 11 and 17 years.
Following investigations, officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended an aged care facility in Kiama on Monday morning and arrested an 83-year-old man.
He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with two counts of buggery, eight counts of assault male, two counts of act of indecency with male, and one count of commit act of indecency.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday July 30.
