The three-day competition kicked off in Kiama on Friday, May 3, with over 80 competitors set to hit the water.
It will determine the NSW bodyboard team for the 2019 Australian titles in August.
The winner of the Open Men's division will also receive a wildcard into the final round of the trials for the 2019 KiamaBodyboard King Pro World Tour event.
The Kiama Bodyboard King Pro is the only Association of Professional Bodyboarding (APB) World Tour event in Australia and will run from August 30 to September 8 at Surf Beach.
Nathan Wilson and Hunter Nicholls both said that bodyboarding was a hobby for them - but they would love the opportunity to make it something more.
Speaking at the event on Saturday, May 4, Nathan said he had begun bodyboarding 12 years ago.
"I've given stand-up (surfers) so much rubbish over the years, there's no way I could change," he said.
Hunter has been bodyboading for eight years. Both have enjoyed some local competition success, and have ambitions to travel the world in search of big waves.
