Emergency Services were called to Black Head Point around midday after reports of an injured man.
The 56-year-old had been walking on the rocks when he slipped and fractured his lower right leg.
Due to incoming tide and difficult terrain the Toll NSW Ambulance Rescue Helicopter was called in and winched the man to safety.
He was airlifted to Wollongong Hospital in a stable condition.
