The Jamberoo tennis courts are well-utilised, with competition players filling all four courts on most weeknights.

In February, Jamberoo Tennis Club resurfaced one of the courts - a job costing about $28,000.

On Wednesday, Kiama MP Gareth Ward announced the state government would contribute about $13,000 to the club, to assist with covering resurfacing costs.

"The club has been fundraising and seeking government grant assistance for some time to replace the synthetic grass surface of one of our courts," Jamberoo Tennis Club president Ross Thompson said.

"We are very pleased with the new court surface which improves the safety and functionality of our facility."

"Jamberoo Tennis Club thanks our local Member Gareth Ward for his valued assistance over an extended period to help us to secure this grant."

Mr Ward said it was important to keep sporting facilities such as the tennis courts in working order.

"Jamberoo Tennis Club is a great community hub of activity and also encourages people of all ages to keep fit and maintain a healthy lifestyle," he said.

"To be clear, this isn't an election commitment - its funding I'm delivering as the local MP, as I do every day for local community groups across our community."

Club maintenance can be an endless task - next, the club will look to repair fences which have deteriorated.
