Council has a team of 28 lifeguards that will be patrolling local beaches in partnership with volunteer lifesavers.
The team ranges from 18 to 45 years in age, includes 15 locals, as well as a South African.
Council lifeguards and volunteer lifesavers will be patrolling Jones, Bombo, Surf, Kendalls, Easts, Werri and Seven Mile Beach throughout the holidays.
Patrol times at all beaches are 10am to 6pm, apart from Surf Beach which is 9am to 6pm.
The lifeguards have reminded locals and visitors to always swim or surf at patrolled beaches and swim between the red and yellow flags.
