When it comes to great Aussie rock, it doesn’t come much better than The Angels.
It’s been more than four decades since brothers Rick and John Brewster co-founded the iconic band and have penned some of Australia’s most anthemic tracks.
The Angels are widely reputed for their killer live shows, with hits like Take a Long Line, No Secrets, Marseilles, Am I Ever Gonna To See Your Face Again and Shadow Boxer.
Lead guitarist Rick Brewster said the band enjoyed playing to any type of audience.
“The Red Hot Summer shows are always great, there’s a big sea of people out there, and they always go off,” he said.
“We will do what we always do, and put on a rock’n’roll show.”
Asked if The Angels’ sound had changed over time, Brewster said there may be barely discernible changes.
“I think anything evolves over time, there would be subtle differences in the way we play things, some people may not even notice it,” he said.
“Then of course, any time you have a change in the line-up there is some sort of difference that occurs.”
Recently, The Angels have been celebrating the 40th anniversary of their seminal album Face To Face, with a massive sold-out national tour.
“We just love performing and creating music,” Brewster said.
“I think the songs we have always written, we’ve concentrated on writing lyrics that are not here today, gone tomorrow – songs like Take a Long Line that have stood the test of time.
“People still see them as relevant today, which is great. I still see Beethoven and Chopin as relevant today.”
The month-long tour will appear at Kiama Showground on March 3, 2019.
