A group of 20 Gerringong Lions and their partners boarded a bus on October 19, and travelled to the central western town of Condobolin, taking with them over $5000 for drought relief.

This was in the form of cash and vouchers that members of the community would be able to spend in Condobolin in order to support the town.
The money was made up of more than $2000, which the Lions had collected for ‘drought relief’, a donation of $1000 from the Lions Return and Earn bottle and can collections, $500 that the Lions Club was granted from The Community Raffle at The Gerringong Bowling Club and a further donation by The Gerringong Lions Club of $1500.
Condobolin Lions Club organised a hearty welcome dinner and a fun picnic day that featured plenty of activities for locals and visitors alike.
The Gerringong visitors were also taken to a couple of local farms to see the effect of the drought first hand.
The Condobolin Lions organised the distribution of money to needy farms, while the vouchers to spend in town were greatly appreciated.
Gerringong Lion, Steve Pottie, who was responsible for the visit, is now looking into organising further support for Condobolin locals next year, by arranging a holiday stay for about 25 in Gerringong.
Gerringong Lions have agreed to sponsor the cost of the visit.
