SOUTH Coast product Ali Day had a great turnaround from his disappointing 11th placing in round one of the Ocean6 Series, by winning Saturday’s round two race ahead of Matt Poole and Tanyn Lyndon in second and third respectively.

Kiama’s Day was a clear winner, racing confidently up the front the whole time.
He stuck to his game plan and led from start to finish and his win is just the confidence boost he needed to give him the best mental approach for the forthcoming rounds.
“I just had to work really hard and stick to the basics,” Day said.
“When I was coming in on the ski and in the lead it was just awesome and it feels so good to be on the podium.
“Coolum hasn’t always been the best location for me and it was mentally tough to do this race coming off an 11th last round.
“As hard as it was, I tried to not worry about wanting to change everything and just stick to my routine and keep things the same which paid off and it feels great.”
Although Day took out today’s race, it is Matt Poole who is sitting in the lead overall with his brand new mindset the catalyst for his great form and great results.
“I feel like I have a bit of fight in my racing again, I was soft for a couple of years letting the young guys push me around but this year I have a fire in my belly and standing my ground again,” Poole said.
“My mindset has changed and I’m racing for all the right reasons now; my family and my club rather than for points or prize money and its working.”
In the women’s event, Harriett Brown claimed first place, ahead of Georgia Miller and Lizzie Welborn – with Nowra-Culburra product Kirsty Higgison finishing 15th.
Miller sits on top of the standings after two rounds, following back-to-back second place finishes.
Round three of the event will be on December 14 and 15 at North Wollongong.
