Currently visiting from London, the brother’s tour will take them up and down the East Coast of Australia including Wangaratta Jazz Festival, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Photographs from a concert held earlier in the year at the historic stone chapel, excited Joseph’s interest and led to his decision to perform at Jamberoo.
The original Wesleyan Chapel began in 1851 and in 1877 the church was constructed from local and Pyrmont sandstone. Now a Uniting Church, the intimate size, beauty of the sandstone and stained glass features and wonderful acoustics make the chapel ideal for performances like this.
Born in Cairo into a Coptic Egyptian family who later settled in Sydney, Joseph is well known as a composer and master of the Oud, a Middle Eastern Lute.
James is a world class percussionist and soloist. Together they present a thrilling mix of Middle Eastern, Jazz and traditional sounds and contemporary innovations.
The concert will be held on Saturday, November 17, from 7pm at Jamberoo Chapel Soundspace, 11 Wyalla Rd Jamberoo. It is the only South Coast performance on the tour, tickets available at trybooking.com/435884
