The book is dedicated to people who care for their wellbeing and want to take it to the next level.
Heather's chapter ‘Freedom through Forgiveness’ builds on ‘The Power of Apology’, a popular two-day seminar she runs, that enables participants to enjoy the present by healing their past.
“It's a book that will inspire people to go to the next level of their own personal wellbeing journey,” Heather said.
"It gives people hope and belief in themselves to take their action steps.
“We all have our own internal dreams, desiring to have a more abundant life. Yet so often we think it's out of reach and somehow reserved for others."
The book contains the inspiring messages of authors and practitioners who have elevated their own wellbeing and share their expertise in empowering others to achieve the same.
"Anything that elevates our soul and our mindset is going to increase our health, and the research shows that," Heather said.
“I feel humbled, proud and grateful to be part of Elevate you Wellbeing. It's been a real honour to be working with these co-authors who have such expertise and passion in their own particular field."
It is the first book Heather has been a part of, and something she put off for many years.
“I was fortunate to get to know Benjamin Harvey, (the founder of the Elevate series) through a course on presenting skills,” she said.
“I believe I have an important message to share, and besides presenting at conferences and training others, most of my work has been done in a more private arena as a relationship therapist and educator. I’ve loved this field of work and have so for more than 30 years now.
“But I’ve become conscious – as my own years are elevating – that I have limited time to reach people with this message!
“I know of the power of forgiveness and the freedom that it brings and have seen how it radically transforms lives and people's wellbeing. Healthy relationships are a wonderful legacy we can pass onto new generations."
When asked about her writing, Heather mused, "I didn't imagine I'd be an author but when the opportunity came, I realised it's the most efficient way to reach people. It's been tapping on my door for a while, a number of people have said ‘you should write a book’. I knew I had to take the plunge and this is a start."
The book covers topics such as:
- How to choose and then value your values.
- The truth about happiness and how to find it.
- How anyone can meditate their way to wellbeing, by choosing one’s mindset.
- A surprisingly easy technique for weight loss.
- Growing your own organic foods.
- The scientific link between love, forgiveness and your health.
- Managing stress with mindfulness.
Elevate Your Wellbeing will be available for purchase at the book launch on Friday, December 7, 6.30-8pm at 5 Carson Place, Minnamurra. Wine, canapes and dessert provided.
A second book launch will also be held on Friday, February 1 from 6.30pm at Kiama Library.
The books are $30 each and half the proceeds go to Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA).
BCNA is a not for profit organisation that supports Australians affected by breast cancer and is dear to Heather's heart.
