The final NSW based Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps Series for the year will hit Kiama this weekend.

More than 100 competitors are expected to compete in the two-day event at Kiama, which will see some of the nation's most promising young surfers competing for a range of prizes.

“This season of the Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps Series presented by Pic’s Peanut Butter has been one of the most exciting seasons we’ve seen to date,” Surfing NSW CEO Luke Madden said.

“In the last event, we saw Fletcher Kelleher claim a hat-trick of victories and five-year-old Leihani Kaloha Zoric take out the under-10 girls division, as well as a multitude of other impressive performances.

“We predict this last NSW event at Kiama will build on this excitement.”

The main base for the event is Bombo, with backup locations of Jones Beach and Kiama Surf Beach.

All competitors are advised to call the event hotline (0458 247 212) by 6.45am on the days of competition to confirm location and running order.

Regarded as one of the major stepping stones in the development of young Australian surfers, the 10-event series caters for surfers from under 8 to under 14 and will be held in NSW, QLD, Victoria, WA, Tasmania and SA over summer.

As an added bonus, the respective winners of the Under 14 boys’ and girls’ divisions from each event will receive an invite to attend an all-expenses-paid, three-day surf camp at the Surfing Australia High-Performance Centre.

For the SA, Victorian and Tasmanian events, the surf camp prize will be awarded to the highest placed under-14 boy and girl who reside in that respective state.

Specialty awards to be provided at each event include the Woolworths Fresh Wave (boy & girl), Pic’s Peanut Butter Star Performers (boy & girl) and AirAsia Air of the Day.

Each entrant will also receive a surfboard sock for entering.

The Woolworths Surfer Groms Comps Series has helped to launch the careers of many of Australia's most promising junior surfers with almost 800 children set to take part in the 2018/19 event series.
