Terry ‘Richo’ Richardson charged Hawaiian waves bigger than houses as a 17 year-old, redefined tube-riding at Aussie Pipe on the South Coast and battled the ravenous pro circuit for 16 years.
He will be launching his biography at the Kiama Golf Club on Sunday, October 28 at 3pm.
Richo’s career as a competitive surfer and professional shaper has spanned 50 years.
From Michael Peterson to Kelly Slater, from single-fins to computerised shaping, from Aussie Pipe to Banzai, Richo held his own.
Richo remains one of an elite band of surfer shapers who have surfed at the highest level and banked a lifetime of shaping experience, while remaining enduringly competitive.
The book launch will feature stories from a life devoted to surfing, with epic photos and some unseen footage, as well as a display of pivotal boards from Richo’s shaping evolution.
Come along and grab a signed copy of ‘Richo: the Terry Richardson Story’ and enjoy the celebration.
Arrive at 3pm for a 3.30 start.
Kiama Councillor and keen surfer Mark Way is looking forward to the event.
“Richo and I go back to the days of surfing both against him in comps to with him at big Windang Island, Aussie Pipe and Uluwatu,” Cr Way said.
“He has been competing in the World Masters and will be returning soon.
“I expect the “who’s who in surfing” on the South Coast to be there.”
