The funds raised from the event went to support the current “Year 13” students who have undertaken 12 months post high school study through Youthworks College.

The afternoon program consisted of a fun filled giant auction hosted by the entertaining Rev Rod Harding.

There were many generously donated goods from local businesses and congregation members, a stall for donated small items and handmade crafts, and entertaining performances by locally acclaimed poet Robyn Sykes and pianist Steve Leatham.

The scrumptious food, tea and coffee was lovingly prepared and served by many enthusiastic volunteers, including the Year 13 students.

The afternoon was a showcase of teamwork organised by Rhoda Pooley.

“We are indebted to her for her hard work all in the name of a fabulous cause,” volunteer Kathy Grigg said.

“It is so encouraging to see our young people stepping up and out to continue their education and live lives that matter.”

The students shared some of the highlights and goals of the Year 13 program, including being mentored by experienced lecturers and pastoral leaders, gaining inspiration from leaders who share their work and ministry, growing skills in Christian leadership, learning to show God’s love in action through serving in youth and children’s camps and a short term placement in Fiji during the year.
