Aleksandr, a Ukrainian-born virtuoso guitarist now based in Adelaide, has won 12 international guitar competition and now performs and lectures at the world’s leading guitar festivals and symposiums.
He was the featured classical guitarist at the prestigious Four Winds chamber music festival at Bermagui this Easter. Two of Aleksandr’s Naxos CD releases have received 5-star reviews in The Australian.
Aleksandr will be playing a Jim Redgate double top guitar for this concert - Jim Redgate instruments are regarded as some of the best in the world and are played by artists of international standing like Pepe Romeo as well as our own Slava Grigoryan (he has four) and Karin Schaupp.
Serenades and Dances is the final 2018 program for the orchestra who will play Serenades for Strings by Elgar and Herbert, and Barber’s moving Adagio for Strings. Then audiences are in for a real treat as guest soloist Alex Tsiboulski joins the orchestra to play Ross Edwards’ joyous Arafura Dances and Luigi Boccherini’s foot-tapping Fandango.
