The Seagulls and the Breakers were playing for the right to take on Bomaderry in next Saturday’s Shoalhaven Football Association grand final.
The score was locked at 2-all at full time, 3-all in extra time and in the shoot-out the Breakers won 3-1.
Star of the shoot-out was Husky’s 18-year-old goalkeeper Chris Tweed who made three saves and almost got his team in the grand final.
Meanwhile, it was almost 12-months to the day when the Breakers last took part in a shoot-out.
The Breakers, when they stepped to the mark, were no doubt thinking about the penalty shoot-out they lost to Bomaderry in last year’s grand final.
The Seagulls players would be disappointed with the result as they led for most of the match.
A goal to Josh Hawker, at the 16th-minute mark, gave the Seagulls a 1-nil lead and when Hawker found the back of the net again at the 53rd minute the Seagulls were looking good at 2-nil.
However, the Breakers would not go away.
A goal to Jordan Lando at the 60th-minute mark got the Breakers back into the contest and then Kane Rowe levelled things up at the 82-minute mark.
The Seagulls off to a brilliant start in extra time when Jayden Lee scored but then Rowe levelled things up again and the penalty shootout was played.
Well done to both teams for putting on such a great match.
In reserve grade on Saturday Bomaderry defeated the Seagull 2-1 and in third grade, the Tigers held onto defeat Culburra 1-nil.
The draw for Saturday’s grand finals is:
Third grade - Huskisson/Vincentia v Bomaderry at 11am
Reserve grade - Callala v Bomaderry at 1pm and
First grade - Bomaderry v Gerringong at 3pm.
