A couple of major Lions Projects are in the news this week. Firstly, the Lions Need for Feed Project. On August 31, 100 trucks and 50 smaller vehicles assembled at Narrandera. They proceeded to Dubbo where they split into smaller teams to distribute hay and other goodies to 400 families in the New England region. Our club contributed to this worthy project.
Secondly, a major medical partnership between Lions and the Garvan Medical Institute worth $4 million is under way, which will provide Genome sequencing, analysis of tumours and normal tissue for over 400 children with high risk cancer throughout Australia.
Our club's next dinner meeting will be at the Leagues Club on September 13, where the speaker will be Chris Johnson, talking about his time as a helicopter pilot of a TV News crew and his time in the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm. An update on the Carers Cottage will be posted on Facebook later this week but there has been a lot of progress to report. See you at Bunnings tomorrow (Thursday) where we are doing a BBQ for drought families.
