Female dairy farmers from across the state will descend on Jamberoo for the second annual NSW Women in Dairy (WID) Conference ‘Bale Up’ at Jamberoo Resort from Tuesday, September 25 to Thursday, September 27.
The three-day conference is set to explore issues such as mental health and succession planning to building skills like leadership, resilience and networking.
Committee Chair Megan Nicholson said last year’s event held at Muswellbrook was the first time a conference had been held for the state’s WID groups in 20 years.
“To be able to come together and share these topics as a group gives us greater strength and resilience to take home and implement on our farms and in our dairy community,” she said.
“Organising this event gives all WID the opportunity to network, learn and share the latest industry topics, from, social media, animal welfare, human resources to looking after ourselves.”
Mrs Nicholson says there are many challenges facing rural and remote women across the country, particularly isolation making events like these vital.
“The dairy industry is spread across a wide area and often we are feeling isolated and have little access to local groups for support,” she said.
The schedule is jam-packed with interesting speakers, a formal dinner and even tools for relaxation, like yoga.
Attendees will also get to see some of the Jamberoo attractions by visiting cheese and ice cream factories, the local Illawarra forest walk and zip line (for the more adventurous ones).
Some of the speakers include New Zealand Dairy Women’s Network Chair Cathy Brown, Dairy Australia’s General Manager David Nation and What’s My Style Founder Nicky McMillan.
Cost is $60, to register contact Elizabeth Warren at elizabeth@dairynsw.com.au or 0428 472 983.
