A concept beginning from a 2011 worldwide petition, a formula for an annual date to celebrate all things blues was established as the first Saturday in August of each year and began with an inaugural celebration on August 3, 2013.
The day has grown globally, with communities coming together to celebrate and learn about blues and its cultural roots, importance and impact on further music genres, as well as its future.
Each year the music promotes cultural diversity, integration and a mutual understanding of worldwide communication.
This year the Kiama Leagues and Kiama Jazz and Blues clubs present one of the most exciting line ups of Australian talent seen on the South Coast.
Headlining the day is Northern NSW and Queensland star Mojo Webb, who at age 12 began learning guitar, and by his 30s released award winning album ‘The Burden’, which had Mojo produce and play all instruments on the album, including guitar, harmonica, saxophone, bass and drums.
His unique voice is described as one of the most powerful in the country and should not be missed.
Mojo will be joined by Australian blues greats the Simon Kinny-Lewis band, the PJ O'Brien band, Ross Ward, Kerrie Sweeney and Local dynamo Illya Swzec, who is reforming one of the Illawarra's most formidable partnerships with Troy “TJ” Blanch.
All this from 1pm till midnight, all for free and will help aid the upcoming 2019 Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival.
Don’t miss the Illawarra's blues party of the year!
