Emergency services were called to Seven Mile Beach at 9.23 on Saturday morning after reports of a surfer breaking their ankle.
Ambulance officers have called in NSW State Emergency Service to help access the surfer in a remote section of the beach.
The condition of the surfer is not yet fully known and they will be transported to hospital as soon as the SES can get them from the beach to a waiting ambulance.
It is understood ankle injuries are the most common injury for foreigners at surf schools in Australia.
