It is around the time of the year when each Lions club has a Changeover Dinner when a new president and board is inducted. Kiama Lions has a very special Changeover on Thursday, July 12, when incoming President John Larkins and his board will be inducted by District Governor Peter Scifleet.
Peter is a long-standing member of Kiama Lions Club and we are greatly honoured that one of our own is the DG this year. In addition to over 70 Lions clubs in District N2 there are a number of Branch, Leo and Lioness clubs which the DG oversees in an area that stretches from south-west Sydney to the Victorian border, including the ACT.
We are certain that Peter, as a successful local businessman and outstanding Lion, has the requisite skills for this very important position in the Lions organisation, and he will be ably supported by his wife, Lion Wendi.
We are grateful to Kiama Council for the civic reception that it will host for DG Peter and Lions clubs in the municipality on July 12.
KIAMA ROTARY CLUB
Applications are now being called for students in the Kiama District to be considered for the next Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN). The next program is on August 3-6 at Telford, Port Hacking. The Rotary Club of Kiama generally assists with transportation to the program and a portion of the cost of the program for successful applicants.
This program is for young people aged 14 to 16 years. It caters for teenagers who have shown qualities of decency, courage, persistence, sincerity, and application in everyday life, which deserve further development.
Nominations should be forwarded to Heather Morton morton.heather@calderwoodcs.nsw.edu.au or Mal Bracken mbracken37@gmail.com no later then Friday, July 20, to allow time for an interview process before final selection.
RYPEN uses the common bonds of learning, co-operation, and friendship to design activities which facilitate trust and self esteem. For more information: http://rotarydistrict9675.org/Page/rypen .
