Member for Kiama Gareth Ward said the remarkable achievement of providing half a century of service as a JP, deserved to be honoured.
“As a JP of 50 years, Bill Gilbert has played an important part in the legal system and in our community by helping hundreds of people at key moments in their lives, such as when they buy a house, access superannuation or go to court,” Mr Ward said.
He said there were nearly 95,000 JPs in NSW, who together volunteered hundreds of thousands of hours to their communities and assisted the efficient functioning of the state’s legal system.
“This commemorative certificate is a small way of saying thank you to Kiama resident Bill Gilbert for his outstanding contribution to our local community,” Mr Ward said.
