Despite the weather forecast looking less than appealing for outdoor activites, many stalwart runners competed in the annual Red Cross Fun Run on June 10.

The runners completed the course in sunny, albeit windy, conditions with the rain only putting in an appearance as they reached the home straight.
After tucking into fresh fruit and home made muffins at Surf Beach, participants were able to check the board to find out if they had won a spot prize.
“We would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the many businesses of Kiama, who once again, donated generous prizes and extended their hospitality to our guests in the form of coffee vouchers and of course lollies for the children, large and small,” president Judi O’Brien said.
“Congratulations to all the winners.”

- Male – Jeff Chaseling, runner up – Marcus Cockshutt.
- Female – Sara Burgess, runner up – Tiffany Knight.
9 kilometre
- Male – James Burroughs, runner up – Martin James.
- Female – Amy Loxley, runner up – Jody Brooks.
- Boy – Joel Hensman, runner up – Damon Hensman.
- Girl – Grace Mahon.
5 kilometre
- Male – Dean Piazza, runner up – Cameron Johnson.
- Female – Rachel Martin, runner up – Mariama McKern.
- Boy – Joshua Bender, runner up – Finn Cunningham.
- Girl – India Cunningham, runner up – Josie Cunningham.
The early birds who pre-purchased tickets for the event were recipients of a prize, as were the business team with the highest number of participants, which was won by Martin Holmes Legal, for the Sporting Team, won by Kiama Golf Club as well as participating schools.
