Neil Spence from Kiama Quarriers Football Club has organised a big screen at Kiama Leagues Club, and all are welcome to attend.
Spence believes Australia stands more of a chance under new coach Bert Van Marwijk.
“They’re a bit more organised in defence, not so easy to score against,” Spence said.
“Ange [Postecoglou] was very attack-minded, and the team was giving away too many cheap goals.
“You can’t do that in the World Cup.”
Spence has watched World Cup matches around the globe – it has been a while since he’s been home during World Cup festivities.
He said this year’s World Cup presented a unique opportunity to come together and watch it at a reasonable hour.
Many are looking forward to it, one Kiama local has even bought a World Cup “onsie” to celebrate in style.
The match kicks off at 8pm, Saturday June 16.
