He will speak on ‘Naval Aviation and Tomorrow’s Threats’.
This is a terrific opportunity to hear what the Navy is doing in defence of Australia, and learn what today’s Navy is doing in our region.
The presentation will take place from 5-6.30pm on Thursday, July 19 at the Joyce Wheatley Community Centre, Hindmarsh Park, Kiama.
All welcome, admission is free.
Commodore Chris Smallhorn, RAN: Commander Fleet Air Arm
Commodore Chris Smallhorn attended Toowoomba Grammar School before joining the RoyaL Australian Navy in 1987.
He graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy and Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and earned his wings in 1993.
Smallhorn conducted operational deployments flying the S-70B-2 Seahawk helicopter. He has served in the United States and commanded various training and operational units in Australia. Chris was promoted to Captain and served as the Chief of Staff Fleet Air Arm and Chief of Staff to the Chief of Navy.
He is a graduate of the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies and has been Director of the Maritime Safety Bureau.
He maintains a keen interest in Civil Aviation safety and is a Director of Safeskies Australia.
Commodore Smallhorn assumed duties as Commander Fleet Air Arm at Albatross on January 20, 2016.
He is married to Kerina and they have two daughters, Brittony, 16, and Claire, 14.
