The Dragons Abreast Illawarra team is made up of breast cancer survivors and those who have been impacted by the illness and the crew will help raise money for charity through the Dragons Abreast Australia foundation.
The men and women aim to create a support network and to encourage other breast cancer survivors to remain active after their diagnosis.
Coordinator Ann Boulton joined the club after she was diagnosed in 2012 and she was instantly struck by the positivity among the group.
“It’s a fabulous sport,” Boulton said. “The fun and camaraderie of the sport allows you to combine fitness with fun, so you’re getting a good workout and enjoying it, alongside like-minded people. You’re with people literally and figuratively in the same boat as you.”
