Oliver the Musical
"It's a fine life!", down at the Roo Theatre Company! "Consider yourself" lucky, as you watch fellow UOW: University of Wollongong students performing, while supporting local theatre!
The Roo Theatre in Shellharbour presents Lionel Bart's award winning musical 'Oliver!' based on Charles Dickens classic novel. It runs until June 24.

Light Up the Pavement
Light up the Pavements is part of a five project series called the Ephemeral Art Program, and is in collaboration with local businesses and residents – the first starts in Thirroul this weekend.
Digital artist Abhiruchi Chhikara has created five projections uncovering what lies beyond the obvious, stories and information that people can’t otherwise see.
The projections bring these treasures out on to the pavements for everyone.

Felt: It’s Our Language
The Illawarra Feltmakers present their 7th annual exhibition at the Old Fire Station Gallery on Shoalhaven Street in Kiama.

Kiama Loves Country Festival

In light of the official Shoalhaven Winter Wine Festival being cancelled - wineries will still have their doors open across the June long weekend.
Crooked River Winery in Gerringong is one those offering live music and gourmet cuisine.
Wollongong Conservatorium Jazz Series
Multi-award winning vocalist and composer Trish Delaney-Brown ( from the Idea of North) performs at the Wollongong Conservatorium as part of the Winter Jazz Series.
She will be accompanied by the Trish Delany-Brown Quintet featuring Australian jazz luminaries Jeremy Sawkins (guitar) Greg Coffin (piano) Karl Dunnicliff (bass) and Nic Cecire (drums).

SATURDAY June 9
Readings & Music in Colour
A creative afternoon at Wollongong Art Gallery from 1:30pm. Wollongong Conservatorium Jazz Combo will perform “colour” themed music, led by Eric Dunan.
Award-winning writer Sandy Fussell will lead a presentation on colour in writing and how it influenced her work.
Writers from the South Coast Writers Centre will read short works and reveal how colour influenced their piece.
While other writers will have an opportunity to discuss their own colour pieced with the open mic.
Entry by gold coin donation. It’s to coincide with the Chromophilia exhibition which runs until July 29.
Bird Box Making
Join the crew at The Tinkerage at Dunmore Resource Recovery Centre from 10am to 3pm to create a bird box with Ross Scholz.
It’s free for Shellharbour residents, $40 for non locals. Please wear enclosed shoes and BYO safety glasses and ear protection. BYO lunch.
SUNDAY June 10
Exhibition opening at Nan Tien Temple
Venerable You Ji is a nun of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order From Singapore and an accomplished artist.
Ven. You Ji aims to spread the message of the Dharma through culture and arts, which is achieved by her unique use of lines, circles and pointillism.
The exhibition will run until August 26 inside the Hai Hui Hall at Nan Tien Temple in Berkeley.
The official opening is Sunday at 1:30pm – free admission.
Art on the Grass
Red Point Artists group showcase their handmade crafts at their studios on Wentworth Street in Port Kembla.
Ceramics, paintings, drawings, sculptures, wood work, jewellery, photography, felt crafts, candles, greeting cards, knitting, sewing and more.
Barbecue and live music in the courtyard.
Music in the Park
Five piece group Pearl Essence Band will be filling the Kiama air with music from 12pm to 3pm.
The free al fresco fun in Hindmarsh Park is thanks to the Kiama Jazz Club and Kiama Council.
SES Barbecue
The SES Wollongong Unit is having a free barbeque from 11am to 1pm – corner of the Princes Highway and Factory Road, Unanderra.
SES vehicles will be on display and volunteers will gladly show kids (and adults) the equipment used during an event to help the community. A free raffle with a home emergency kit as the prize.
MONDAY June 11
Circus Fun-Raiser
Circus Monoxide performers Louise and Jem are embarking on their first European summer full of street festivals and fun.
This family friendly circus event will help them with travel and equipment costs, and also bid them farewell.
The pair will perform their show Glee N Grump, interspersed with acts from guest performers.
