Guest soloists Susie Bishop (soprano), Daniel Tambasco (tenor) and Jared Lillehagen (bass) join the combined forces of Steel City Strings Orchestra and con voci chamber choir to perform Schubert’s joyful Mass in G, and the youthful Fauré’s hymn Cantique de Jean Racine.
As well, Steel City Strings presents Grieg’s ever-popular, lyrical Holberg Suite for String Orchestra, con voci performs some of its signature a capella repertoire, and guest soloists deliver their selection of “crowd pleaser” songs, accompanied by Steel City Strings.
Susie Bishop, soprano, is both a vocalist and a violinist who regularly performs in both capacities in a range that spans opera, jazz, fusion and vocal/instrumental ensembles. She holds a Master of Music in Opera from the Royal Northern College of Music and a Bachelor of Creative Arts in Drama from UOW. Recent opera engagements include touring with the Song Company and performing as soloist with the Marais Ensemble.
Daniel Tambasco, operatic tenor, holds a Master of Music Studies in Opera Performance from Sydney University. He has played leading roles in operas ranging from Purcell and Gluck, through Mozart, Puccini and Verdi to Gilbert and Sullivan and Carl Orff. His repertoire includes sacred music and cabaret.
Jared Lillehagen, bass, has been touring full time with Opera Australia’s NSW schools program, and in 2018 has re-joined the Opera Australia Chorus, as well as continuing to perform regularly as a recitalist and concert soloist. He has held roles in many Australian opera companies and has performed extensively as an oratorio soloist.
All the local musicians and singers are thrilled to be working with such brilliant and multi-talented soloists - they have chosen their favourite works for solo performance with us.
