At the Kiama Showground, the day’s scoring was started by the hosts in the 17th minute.
A shift from left to right, from halves Cameron Vazzoler and Hamish McLaurin, got the ball into the hands of Cameron Cornell.
The centre then got outside his man before putting his winger Matt Morris down the right touchline to score.
Five-eighth McLaurin failed to convert, as the score remained 4-nil.
The Knights were in again seven minutes later, when slick play from Vazzoler and captain Kieran Poole put fullback Tom Atkins into open space – with the latter sprinting 20 metres to score.
McLaurin added the extras for 10-nil after 24 minutes.
The Knights onslaught continued in the 28th minute, when Matt Morris scored his second of the afternoon.
A Dayne Ewings grubber kick was picked up by Vaughan Thistlethwaite, who found winger Matt Morris – the flyer then pinned his ears back and ran 60 metres to score.
McLaurin again made no mistake with the boot, as the lead stretched out to 16 points.
The visitors finally had something to cheer about in the 32nd minute when five-eighth Lepani Waqa dummied and reached out with his right arm to score.
Mark Brayne missed the conversion for the Bulldogs, as the score remained 16-4.
That miss mattered little as the Dogs had themselves another four points three minutes later, when hooker Nick Goodman put Harley Grundy over to score.
Brayne again missed his conversion, as the lead was trimmed to just eight – which is how it remained until half-time.
The message from Matt Clarke at the break obviously revitalised the hosts, scoring just four minutes after the resumption.
A Vazzoler cross field bomb landed in the hands for Dylan Morris to score untouched.
McLaurin failed in his sideline conversion, as the score remained 20-8.
The Knights well and truly had the momentum when they scored their fifth try in the 52nd minute – Cornell pounced on a grounded pass before palming off three defenders to score from close range.
McLaurin again failed to convert, as the lead was 16.
The home fans then had to wait until the 71st minute for the Knights’ sixth try.
This time, a simple shift from left to right created a two on one for Cornell, who unselfishly put his winger Matt Morris in for his third try.
McLaurin converted from the right touchline, making it 30-8.
The hosts put the icing on the cake in the 75th minute when an Atkins kick was grounded by Matt Morris in goal – the winger’s fourth try of the match.
McLaurin failed with his conversion, as the score at full-time was 34-8.
