Managers of The Brooding Italian Cafe at Kiama, arrived at work to find the pavement and parking spaces outside their business and garbage bins covered with graffiti on Thursday morning.

Owner Kathryn Telford said they had been running the business for 12 months at 160 Manning Street.
“My manager called this morning and said it [graffiti] was there when they opened, Mrs Telford said.
“I was actually shocked, I didn’t think anyone would go to that extreme.
“We called Kiama Council, as it was professional looking, council didn’t know anything about it and they didn’t authorise it.”
The graffiti appears to be created with a stencil and states “residential area, quiet zone”.
The area is zoned B1, which means it is a neighbourhood centre, the zoning applies when two or three shops are located in a suburb together, such as that of the small Manning Street precinct.
Mrs Telford pointed out the positive impacts local businesses can have on the community.
“We provide a service and employment in the community, which promotes Kiama,” she said.
“It’s not just about selling coffee, we do make a contribution to the community we live in.”
