We had a successful attendance at the Anzac commemorations and were able to collect over $3600 which will be shared between Legacy, which looks after veterans’ families and the Invictus Games, which is a sort of worldwide Para Olympics for injured servicemen.
Our Driver Reviver team will be active again for the weekend of 6 June which is a long weekend.
The 3 intrepid young high school students whom we sponsored for the 2 week Outward Bound Leadership Course have arrived back, and by all accounts they had a great time getting enormous benefit from it. They will come to our Dinner night on 24th May and tell us all about it.
The next Dinner Meeting will be at the Leagues Club on 10 May and we will be inducting a new member.
KIAMA ROTARY
The Rotary Club of Kiama continues its 30 year partnership with Madang in Papua New Guinea.
The Rotary Club of Madang was delighted to have two Rotarian friends visiting in April. Trevor Phillis from Kiama and Mike Thomas from Gerringong have just returned from a fact finding mission to finalise the details for the delivery and installation of new kitchen facilities for the Modilon Hospital in Madang.
This project has been made possible as a result of the donation by Kiama Council of the kitchen equipment made obsolete as a result of the new Aged Care Facility being constructed on the old hospital site.
It is estimated that it will take six volunteers around three weeks on site, with the assistance of local workers, to upgrade the hospital kitchen later this year or early next year.
