Almost $550,000 has now been pledged for a Bendigo Community Bank, which exceeds 65 per cent of required pledges.
More than 190 community members have supported the steering committee’s pledge drive. Yet of the 1000 pledge forms distributed at least 750 are still out there.
People need to lodge their pledges in the next week to ensure the target of $800,000 is met. Simply drop them off at Gerringong Pharmacy or Park Ridge Retreat.
With the pledge target almost reached the committee is preparing for the next stage, which is an independent community survey.
This survey will help Bendigo Bank determine if there is enough support to not only establish the bank, but to grow and sustain the bank into the future.
Once the survey is completed they can get the physical branch ready to open in Gerringong.
This survey needs to be partly funded by our community. To help fund the survey the committee will be holding a trivia night.
Finally, they are encouraging the community to start opening accounts with Bendigo Bank that will be domiciled to the local bank branch.
The Bendigo Bank team will be in Gerringong on Tuesday, April 24 and Friday, April 27.
