The group has many members who do exceptional beautiful handicraft, which included women’s garments, bags, dolls, cot rugs, children’s garments, embroidery and hand crochet items.

As well as being eligible for Section 1 of the CWA competition, some of the items would also be bound for The Land newspaper competition, which showcases the best work in a range of categories from around the state.

President Cheryl Pearce is preparing for the CWA Annual Conference at Armidale, which is where the best handicrafts from across the state will be on show.

“These exhibits will go to Kangaroo Valley tomorrow where they will compete with 14 CWA Branches, with only one winner from each, so those 14 will go to state level,” she said.

“The handicrafts, cookery and cultural competition entries will all go there.

“I will be a voting delegate along with our branch secretary; we have a set of resolutions we will will be voting on and any motions of emergency that are raised.”

The CWA Annual Conference at Armidale will be held from April 29 – May 3.

Handicrafters hold a morning tea to pass on their skills on the first Tuesday of the month at the Kiama Hall 10am-11.30am.

Their normal monthly meeting is on the third Tuesday of the Month at 12.30pm for a 1pm. start at the Kiama CWA Hall – 70 Shoalhaven Street, Kiama.
