The Razorbacks innings started well, however a quality spell of bowling from Lachlan Hall 4-19, well supported by Jake Taylor (3-22) and Will Grant (2-18) saw them bowled out for 91 from 40.1 overs.
The Jets were then able to secure first innings points finishing day one at 4-130 (Scott Brown 48no, Scott Groves 27). In a very tight race for the final semi final position, the Jets will need to push for an outright victory next weekend.
In their last game of the season, Gerringong second grade again battled hard but were outclassed by Albion Park’s first XI.
Batting first, the Albion Park side reached 7-289 from their 50 overs (Dominic Cooper 2-55, Joe Blackburn 1-20, Owen Sutherland (1-36). The Jets batters tried hard against some good bowling but were outclassed and were bowled out for 69 from 33.4 overs (Josh Spain 22, Nathan Harvey 14).
Gerringong fourth grade had a tough day at the office against the Rail. The Jets batted first but unfortunately their innings never got going and were bowled out for 68 in what was a disappointing effort (Brad Speering 13, Chris Presland 13).
The Razorbacks made easy work of the chase scoring 1-71 from 15 overs (Brad Speering 1-7). The Jets remain in second spot on the ladder with one week before the finals so their batsmen will need to regain some form next week if they want to challenge for the title.
Neither of the Gerringong U16A’s or 14A’s were able to reach the Combined competition (with Illawarra) finals this season which started this weekend so it is left to our younger age groups to carry the Jets’ flag.
The Gerringong U12s team have already qualified for next weekend’s semi-finals so essentially their match against Lake Illawarra was a warm up match in preparation for them.
Batting first, the Jets posted a competitive total of 6-100 from their 30 overs (James Kunkler 17no, Will Speering 16, Riley Sheppeard 11no). However, against some inconsistent Jets bowling, the Lakers were able to chase down the total reaching 2-103 inside 25 overs (Abbey Speering 1-1 (3); James Kunkler 1-2 (2).
The Jets will have to improve next week if they wish to win their semi-final against Oak Flats who finished top of the table.
The Gerringong U11 Green team won their match against Albion Park Gold. The Jets batted first and scored 5-99 from their 20 overs. Albion Park were only able to reach 7-51 from their 20 overs. The win leaves the Jets in second position.
The Gerringong U11 Gold team have lost their match against Shellharbour Blue. The Jets batted first and were only able to reach 8-58 from their 20 overs (Tom Peterson 10, Charlie McKelvey 6no), The Jets tried their best, however Shellharbour were able to amass a total of 4-154 from their 20 overs (Ari Smith 2-8 (3), Sol Parker 1-16 (3).
